連邦政府の歯科保険制度「カナダ・デンタルケア・プラン（Canadian Dental Care Plan: CDCP）」が今年から全世代に適用拡大され、6月1日から保険が利用できる。民間保険に加入していない低・中所得者の歯科治療費をカバーすることが目的。
政府発表では70,000ドル未満の世帯年収者は100％カバーされるとなっているが、実際には治療によって適用範囲が異なるため、完全100％無料とならない場合もある。
現在のCDCP対象者は以下の通り。
・65歳以上の高齢者
・18歳未満の子ども
・有効な障害者税控除（DTC）証明書を持つ成人
2025年申請可能対象者は以下の通り。
・5月1日から55～64歳
・5月15日から18～34歳
・5月29日からは35歳～54歳
上記の対象者は6月1日から保険が適用となる。新規申請は以下の申請方法を参照。
申請には以下の条件を全て満たす必要がある。
・雇用福利厚生や専門職・学生組織など歯科治療をカバーする保険に加入していない
・世帯純所得が90,000ドル未満
・カナダ在住納税者
・前年の税申告（タックスリターン）を行っている
申請の流れ
上記を満たす場合は政府ウェブサイト、もしくは電話でCDCPを申請する。申請が受理され、登録が完了すると、連邦政府は登録情報を保険会社Sun Lifeと共有する。Sun LifeからはCDCPの詳細情報、メンバーカード、適用開始日を含むウェルカムパッケージが送付される。
その後、Sun Lifeウェブサイトに掲載されている登録歯科機関、もしくは、かかりつけ歯科医などに連絡してCDCPで治療が受けられるか確認して治療を受ける。

保険負担が適用される歯科サービス
CDCPでは多くの一般的な歯科治療・ケアがカバーされる。ただし、全ての治療で全額負担されるわけではない。治療費の保険適用については、歯科機関、かかりつけ歯科医に確認することが必要。
自己負担が発生する場合
・世帯所得が70,000ドルから89,999ドルの場合
・治療費用がCDCPでカバーする金額を超える場合
・患者と歯科医師がCDCPでカバーしていないサービスを受けることに合意した場合
世帯所得別による保険適用範囲
・70,000ドル未満：CDCPが定めた料金で適正な治療費用の100％をカバー
・70,000ドルから79,999ドル：同60％をカバー
・80,000ドルから89,999ドル：同40％をカバー

修復治療（虫歯や欠けた歯の治療）

歯内治療（重度の虫歯、感染、損傷した歯の治療）

歯周病治療（歯茎や骨など歯の周囲の治療）

修復治療（基本的な詰め物では修復できないほど損傷した歯を元に戻すための治療）

可撤式補綴治療（欠損した歯を補うための治療）

口腔外科（歯や腫瘍を取り除き、手術が必要な口や顎のその他の問題を修復するための治療）

・treatments for broken jaw bones
麻酔・鎮静
・minimal sedation (conscious)
・moderate sedation (requires preauthorization)
・deep sedation (requires preauthorization)

矯正治療
2025年に追加予定。厳しい基準に基づいて医療上の必要がある場合にのみ適用され、上限が設定される。
一部の治療や定められた頻度の上限を超える追加治療には、CDCPの事前承認が必要となる。事前承認は、治療を受ける前に行う必要があり、患者の歯科履歴や医療状況を考慮して決定される。一部の複雑な歯科治療、例えば部分義歯やクラウンなどは事前承認が必要。事前承認による治療は2024年11月から適用される。
